Thuvaiyals Pastes that can be mixed with Rice
Topic: Chef
Thuvaiyals are Pastes which can be added to rice.

Coconut ThuvaiyalHeat 1 teaspoon oil, add asafoetida, when it bursts add 3 redchillies and 3 teaspoons black gram dhal. When the dhal turns red, add around 1/8th of a coconut and saute lightly. Grind with 1 teaspoon of salt, and water.A tiny bit of tamarind is optional.

Onion ThuvaiyalSame as above. Reduce the chillies to 2 and 1 big onion. Saute till it turns golden brown before grinding into a paste.Tomato can be used instead of blackgram dhal. When doing that, grind the paste and then saute.

Corainder Leaves ThuvaiyalPinch the leaves and wash well. 'Fry asafoetida, 3 red chillies, 3 teaspoon of blackgram dhal in 1 teaspoon of oil. Grind it with the leaves and 1 teaspoon salt. Tamarind too optional. Note the leaves need not be sauted in oil. option 2 Instead of blackgram dhal, 1 tomato can be used and it can be mixed while making vegetables salads with grated carrot or cucumber

Mint Leaves ThuvaiyalSame as Corainder leaves thuvaiyal.

Orange peep Thuvaiyal (Have not tried it)Choose the yellow variety. Scald the peel in 2 teaspoon of oil, with 2 teaspoon black gram dhal,3 red chillies, and asafoetida and grind with 1 teaspoon of salt. If water is not used, can be kept for couple of days.

Dhal Thuvaiyal. In 1 teaspoon of oil, fry half cup red gram dhal and 1 red chilli. Grind this with 1 teaspoon of salt and little coconut if desired.

Other vegetables too can be used to make a Thuvaiyal. Can follow the above principle.
Basically black gram dhal is added as a volumiser. Another volumiser is tomato. Which can be varied depending on tastes preferences. While adding water, while grinding in a mixie add it slowly instead of all at once.Never ever use black gram dhal without turning them red. Raw blackgram dhal tastes awful. :)

Mr.Popular & Saurav Ganguly
Mood:  cheeky
Topic: Aargh Diaries

A friend from Visakhapatnam wanted my suggestions on party conversations and being Mr.Popular.

Well though I dont buzz around in the party circuit and definitely not Mr.Popular, this doesnt prevent me from giving tips:D

Rule no.1
Talk about Cricket/Politics/Films. Someone or other is bound to be interested in that.

Rule no.2
Spout Statistics if possible, you will look knowledgable too. But dont go into tooooo much statistics. One stat per conversation should be your limit.

Rule no.3
Generally you dont have to talk a lot or know a lot to be popular, listening would do equally well and compliments will do more :) But dont go overboard, it will be treated as flattery. Stick to one per conversation.

Rule no.4
If you dont smoke drink or
eat only veggies, and others have different preferences, dont advertise it. Just quietly follow it.

I sent this by email and thought perhaps I could elaborate on this in a book and was wondering if I would be able to get a 7 figure book contract when I received an email from my friend - he doesnt watch cricket.

Aargh!!

Didnt know there could be guys who dont follow cricketRead More...

Win With Wail
Mood:  irritated
Topic: Kidding
Dear Diary,
I wanted pizza.
(Because I saw a Pizza ad on TV)
Mom said no.
I cried.
She still said no.
I cried more.
Dad came into the room.
Mom explained why I was crying.
He said he had a headache and scolded her for making me cry.
I kept on crying.
He got angry and he hit me.
I decided to cry more.
Mom and Dad argued.
I screamed.
They got tired with my screams.
They took me out.
They ordered pizza and burger and also french fries.
And wiped my tears.
And told me to be good and get good marks.
I said yes and smiled as I sipped the softdrink.
Its so easy to win with a wail.

A 6 year old.

Men Mars Women Venus Eunuch Hell
Mood:  don't ask
Topic: Aargh Diaries
Lunch time at work, one is supposed to eat in peace. But becomes tough when people start discussing their problems and issues with me.

Yesterday a guy was cribbing about tax concessions for women. Well its his money, so if he wants to crib, his choice. But he was cribbing to me, so it was my choice to give him advise:D

And so I said, If you think being a female has more advantages, get yourself castrated, then undergo hormone therapy and become a female and get tax concessions or just remain an eunuch say, its worse for them and get more tax benefits than the females.

Needless to say, he didnt find it funny and thought I was being insensitive to the third sex. And (thankfully) walked away. And I thought, aaah peace atlast.

But then minutes later a female was saying to me, she wanted to find out who her true male friends were. She wanted a friend not due to her looks, but for her mind.

Yeah you guessed it, since the concept was fresh in my mind, I told her, tell them you are an eunuch and say you are the marvel of surgery and hormone therapy.

I thought it was not a bad idea, but she thought I was being horrible and insensitive.

Yes, now the guys and girls both hate me, at work. And I dont have to worry about anyone disturbing me at lunchtime.

All are busy gossiping on my sex and sexual preferences and which feature of mine, could be the result of surgery etc.

But life sure would be better if people didnt stare too much:)

Aargh !!

World Water Day
Mood:  don't ask
Topic: Wise Donkey

This year's World Water Day on 22nd March marks the launching of the "Water for Life" decade, during which the United Nations and governments are seeking to halve the number of people without access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation by 2015, under the slogan "Water for life, water for all"

The United Nations says more than 1.1 billion people around the world lack safe water, and 2.6 billion have no access to sanitation, leading to over 3 million deaths every year.

Women's Day
Mood:  happy
Topic: Wise Donkey

"Volcano Sunset, Guatemala" ? SuperStock, Inc.

March 8th Women's Day.
Women's Day & women's issues need not be the concern of only women.
Women's Rights doesnt mean taking away Rights of Men.

On Women's Day would like to pay my tribute to Raja Rammohan Roy and the men and women who share his spirit.

Happy Women's Day to

I wish even the male bloggers because I believe Women's Day is now observed to highlight Women's Issues. But since there are plenty of men who support these issues, would like to wish the men too. But if anyone wants me to remove their name, will remove it with apologies.

Rape laws - Marital Status,Age & Gender
Mood:  incredulous
Topic: Do U Know

The present law on Marital Rape is a contradiction of the unanimous resolution at the UN conference in Beijing, September '95. The resolution guarantees every woman's right to say no to sex as she wishes, specifically wives. India. had signed in the Bejieng convention to make marital rape a crime in 1994. Yet even now a married woman has no right to say no.

Even with her consent, sexual intercourse with a 15 year old girl will be rape, but even without her consent, sexual intercourse with a 15 year old girl will not be a rape, if the rapist is her husband.

Punishment for raping a wife who is 12-15 years old and for raping a wife during seperation is far less for the husband compared with any other person raping her.

Though the Child Marriage Restraint Act says the minimum age of the wife should be 18, when there is lack of punishment if the victim is above 15 or when the punishment for raping even a 12-15 year old is less, just because she is married to the rapist, the Rape laws goes against the spirit of action against Child Marriage.

Even though a man can be raped by a woman under the clauses 3,4,5 & 6 of the Sec.375, IPC, it doesnt take this factor into account.

In Manipur the upper age limit would be 13 instead of 15 and 14 instead of 16.

Worthless Not Priceless
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Wise Donkey

Two pegs of whisky - 500 rupees , Four tequilla shots - 1000 rupees, Six cans of beers - 300 rupees
Driving home the girl who drank all this - WORTHLESS!!!

Muse : Hold on, you are writing an old internet forward the wrong way.
Self : I know, but this is the way scientists would write it.

Muse : Stop talking in riddles
Self : http://health.indiatimes.com/articleshow/msid-1032334,curpg-1.cms The results of a research showed that, generally speaking, the greater the amount of alcohol drunk, the less likely a woman was to initiate sex. While alcohol appears to have a sexual lubricant effect in men, quite the reverse seems true for women.

Muse : Interesting but surely there is a broader issue to think about.
Self : Well John Gray had already written in "The Mars & Venus Diet & Exercise Solution" the same food brings about different reactions in men and women. There has been studies, on how the same intakes has different effects for men and women and perhaps in future, some medicines too could take into account these factors..

Muse : Stop, bettter just rewrite the internet forward only.
